US Mass Shootings - Should Guns Be Banned?
Before you read this, I would like to warn you that it is late (ish) and my brain is mush, but I've decided to continue writing anyway. Pre warning over, I'm sure you've all heard about the most recent US school shooting in Florida. I've left the details in a link at the bottom if you want to know specifics, but I would like to talk about mass shootings in general. I'm not an expert and my research is limited, however I do believe that guns should be banned in the US. Just to be clear, I'm sure that the US isn't the only country who allow average citizens the access to guns, but it's the country that's in the news most often (the misrepresentation of real news in the media is a whole other post) so I'm going to refer to it as if its the only country for the sake of simplicity. Back to the point, guns cause a lot of problems, for example in the US there has been 18 school shootings this year alone! Which is utterly mind blowing, for context the UK, a country who bans guns, had its last mass shooting in Scotland in 1996 (and yes I'm aware of the size difference of the country but the point still lies). And considering there was around 275 mass shootingsin the US just last year, I find completely that insane! With that evidence and so much more, I just don't understand why they haven't been banned. Perhaps I'm missing the point, what do you think?
