Packing Essentials
As I write this I'm actually on a plane to the UAE to see my mum and my friends. I actually grew up there and moved back just last summer to live with my dad, as someone who spent a lot of her child hood shuttling between not just parents but also from the UAE to the UK I am pretty efficient at packing. So it seemed very fitting to write a little post about packing. Also, because of where we lived we spent most of our holidays either somewhere tropical or in the UK and from the age of about 8 I was flying UM and then from 12 I've been flying on my own or with my sister so as you can imagine I'm also pretty accustomed to airports so I though another time I could an airport tips post too!
In this post I'm going to be writing a detailed list for a 'generic' holiday, what I mean by this is not a holiday where you have a specific focus like sight seeing, surfing, hiking, skiing etc. Actually where I'm going is a very good example I'll be doing things like swimming, shopping, seeing friends, water parks and more. Obviously there are things that are individualised so you can add things or leave things out of course.
So your basic travel essentials for a 10 day holiday should include:
Toiletries
~ tooth paste toothbrush
~ face wash
~ moisturiser (preferably a repairing one because sun)
~sun cream face and body
As you can see I've kept it very very minimal because holidays are for having fun so a fool proof routine is key.
Makeup
~tinted moisturiser with spf/ foundation with spf
~ Brow powder
~brow gel
~ waterproof mascara
~bronzer
~ nude liquid lip
If you want to wear makeup on your trip then I would always opt for long lasting or waterproof products that aren't going to move when doing sports and fun holiday activities. Make up is a very personalised thing and I know for me I would put the bronzer on my eyes during the day but for nights out I would want to pack an eye shadow pallets. For this particular holiday I've gone for a pinky reddy one. You want stuff that's going to make you feel your best so you can forget about what you look like and make amazing memories!
Clothing
~ 2 pairs of plain or denim shorts that go with everything for casual day looks
~ jeans for shopping malls, lunches etc
~ what I like to call 'mall tops', essentially posher tops that you would wear to the mall or to lunch but not just around your hotel or by the pool, I would pair these with said jeans 3-4
~ casual tops to go with the shorts for walking and casual outings 4-5
~ dinner wear for fancy restaurants nights out etc 2-3
Clothing again is very personal, but this is a great guide for packing the bare minimum. I would suggest maybe packing a skirt and some beach cover ups if that's suitable too.
Other clothing items that didn't into the category above
~ bikinis/ swim suit
~ uv top and swim shorts
~ the appropriate underwear
~ socks (why do I always forget these)
~ workout gear if wanted
~ sunglasses
Shoes
~ sneakers (for lack of a better word)
~ flip flops
~ pumps
~ dressy heels
Tech
~ chargers for all electronics
I would use this list as a base guide and write down all extra things needed for specilist holidays, for example sallapettes for skiing etc etc. Packing is very personalised and is stressful but can be quite fun (someone should try telling my mum that!) if you try and simplify your packing to just over the basics your sure to have greatll holiday.
