Should Makeup Be Allowed In Schools?

Image
Makeup. Such a controversial topic, especially in UK schools. We've all heard excuses as to why we are not allowed makeup but are the reasons really valid? I do firstly want to mention that I don't think boundaries with the type and how much makeup you can wear is a problem but to ban it all seems so unfair to me. Also I would like to say that I'm sorry that the quote at the beginning refers to on woman it was the quote I loved and I think that we can apply it to everyone. I think one of the main 'cons' to the allowance of makeup in schools is it being labelled as a distraction, we spend to much time applying it in the morning and then we're late. Or maybe we've touched it up in the bathroom and have missed registration, or even that the makeup will cause boys to act inappropriately, as ridiculous and stereotypical as it sounds this is what's being said. I personally think that what's more of a distraction is not putting your hand up for fear of p...

A Guide to Organisation for Unorganised People

Image
I'll start by saying that organisation doesn't come naturally to me, in fact as I'm sitting at my desk right now I am surrounded by a whirlwind of papers, highlighters, inspirational quotes and literal chaos. But its organised chaos and I love it. The mess of it makes me feel productive and that's such a great feeling! However I'm constantly surrounded by people who are VERY organised and there is absolutely no room for leeway and the mess isn't always reliable so I have other systems in place that really help me to at least pretend that I know what the hell I'm doing. I have three main aspects that I will split into paragraphs so that maybe I can help any like minded people. You can find examples below the text to fully understand. Also I know my desk isn't tumblr city but its functional okay? Firstly lets establish that simplicity is most definitely the key, I love to organise stuff and make it look pretty and beautiful but it never works out i...

Body Positivity In Social Media

Image
Today I want to share my thoughts on body positivity, specifically its  activeness in social media. I'm feeling very productive while writings this as, shock and horror, I'm actually sat at my desk! Anyway I just want to start off with what I'm not going to talk about, I'm planning to write a whole other post about why I don't think social media is  as bad as everyone says it is so I'm literally only going to talk  about one of the 'glass half full' aspects of social media: the body positivity movement.  Firstly lets discuss what body positivity means to me; in my opinion, as long as your completely healthy then who gives one about what size you are. If you eat well, exercise regularly and don't have any lifestyle induced health issues then it does not matter how many stretch marks you have! I'm not saying its okay to be fat, as research shows that being overweight has definite negative side affects, but I am saying that as a society our idea ...

US Mass Shootings - Should Guns Be Banned?

Image
Before you read this, I would like to warn you that it is late (ish) and my brain is mush, but I've decided to continue writing anyway. Pre warning over, I'm sure you've all heard about the most recent US school shooting in Florida. I've left the details in a link at the bottom if you want to know specifics, but I would like to talk about mass shootings in general. I'm not an expert and my research is limited, however I do believe that guns should be banned in the US. Just to be clear, I'm sure that the US isn't the only country who allow average citizens the access to guns, but it's the country that's in the news most often (the misrepresentation of real news in the media is a whole other post) so I'm going to refer to it as if its the only country for the sake of simplicity. Back to the point, guns cause a lot of problems, for example in the US  there has been 18 school shootings this year alone! Which is utterly mind blowing, for context the...

My Current Makeup Routine

Image
Currently I go to an all girls school where makeup is well... banned. Which I think is ridiculous but that's for another post, so today I'm just going to talk you through my very subtle school makeup routine.  I like to do my makeup in importance order, because lets be real I am always late so I like to know that if I have to run out of the house at least I've got some foundation on goddammit! So first of all I use the rimmel full coverage foundation, I am too cosy in bed to find its real name but I will put links to it at the bottom of the post so that you can find it because its bloody good. I use the palest colour, sadly it matches perfectly, I use flat foundation brush that I will probably have a breakdown if I ever lose because the name as rubbed off and its brilliant. I only apply foundation on my chin where I have mostly breakout scarring and it just needs a little oomph and also under my nose where my skin gets very red. Then a dab of collection lasting perfecti...

What Feminism Means To Me

Image
There is a lot of controversy surrounding feminism and its ethics, so thought that I would share what the concept means to an average 14 year old and why I choose to call myself a feminist. I believe that feminism is equality, its a movement where women and men fight for equal rights. In my opinion, every women of every ethnicity, every sexuality, should be give the exact same opportunities as those that are given to men. To me, it is not about saying that women are better than men, that would be abusing the concept, its really about c hanging the way society views women so that the opportunities that men have historically been given are available for us to.  So that's what feminism means to me, but I call myself a feminist not only to contribute to changing the way society thinks but to recognise the hundreds of years where women have suffered with the tyrannies of being under men's rule. Historically, women have been stifled of any creativity and forced to fit into mens...
