My Skin Care Routine

As you may know, I'm fourteen and sadly this is the prime time for my skin to hate me. In all seriousness my skin isn't that bad, I breakout on my chin and get scarring and my forehead isn't always clear but with a little bit of makeup on you wouldn't be able to tell. Even as someone who is fairly lucky, I know what its like to feel insecure about my skin. At its worst, it made me feel totally isolated, which is so stupid as so many people suffer from this and its not a unique issue but that's the way it is. Taking a little bit of extra time on my skin care routine and working to find whats best for me not only boosted my confidence but actually cleared up my skin a little.
Lets start with the fact that every ones skin is different and my routine won't work for everyone but it is worth taking aspects of it and trying them out. Logic lecture over, I've learnt that simplicity is the key; overly complex routines may just confuse your skin as at the end of the day it is designed to look after itself. My skin was at its worst last summer and it was completely down to stress from personal stuff, which leads me on to my first point: make sure that you have ruled out the possibility that it could be due to stress, diet, lack of water etc. Once your certain that these factors aren't the things causing breakouts, its time to start the process of trial error. Try different types of cleansers (foaming, oil based, water based etc) followed by different formula's of moisturises and keep a record of works best. This is what worked for me:

"Dermalogica Clear Start Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash decreases the sign of clogged pores and breakouts with the help of its key ingredients Tea Tree, Lavender and Camellia." I truly love this and it takes care of breakouts as quick as is safe. However it does strip your skin of all oil which is fine for me because my skin produces vats of oil per day anyway but beware if you have dry skin.
Sometimes I use the rotating facial brush which I also recommend as long as you don't have sensitive skin. Also once a fortnight I will use the scrub, toner, and gel from the same range but if I use it everyday it leaves my skin dry and overcompensating on the oil front.
After comes moisturiser, in the morning I use the olay day cream. It has an SPF of 15 which is so important but lets leave that for another post, this cream sinks into my skin nicely and is a great base for makeup. At night I use the no7 night cream which is lighter and isn't too rich for my skin. To be honest I swap and change moisturisers depending on whats on sale, but these would be my top favourites. Although I am partial to a some garnier or nivea!
And that's it! I told you it was simple, I think what truly makes a difference to my skin is removing my makeup every single night, washing my face twice a day and not working out in makeup. I'm keen to write a post about being confident while having breakouts but tbh I'm still figuring it out.
