Little Ways To Be A Little Healthier + Fitness Routine
Hello everyone! Wow that's a bit loud for 11 pm at night! Today I wanted to have a little chat about having a generally healthier lifestyle. I think that being physically able is so so important, firstly it's a natural boost for body confidence but it's also so good for your overall energy levels and general brightness. Sadly, few of us have the motivation to do hours and hours in the gym or the energy for proper cooking, so I thought I would share some easy ways that I try and add some healthy habits into my lifestyle.
To start with lets talk about food, I'm a gal who loves her food and luckily the way I control my diet is not limiting how much I eat but rather what I eat. A change I've been implementing in the last few weeks is my breakfasts. It used to consist of cereal day in day out, which we all know is generally packed full of sugar and carbs. So instead I bought a jar from dun elm and I've been eating overnight oats every morning for a while now. To sustain my energy you've got the oats, obviously yogurt is a great source of calcium and protein, the frozen berries are packed full of nutrients and I have seeds sprinkled on the top for added nutritional value. Much better than cereal. Usually I'll have a square or two or three of chocolate in the evening but I've cut it down to only two days a week which hopefully will have a positive affect on sleeping as well as my sugar intake. Other than that I have an average lunch and dinner with a portion of fruit and veg with each meal (aside from brekkie clearly, no one wants to eat broccoli for breakfast).
The next most important thing is exercise, I do a set of toning every day that target areas of my body that I want to build muscle on. The set is challenging in terms of muscular strength but not cardio, that way at the end of each session I am hot and 'glowing' rather than looking like a dying pig, this means that I actually do it each day because I don't dread doing it.
2 min plank
plank and 40 twists
30 crunches
40 side crunches
50 mountain climbers
30 hip raisers
scissor kicks 50 secs
split squats 10x2
sissy squats 15
jump squats 10
goblet squats 15
hamstring curl with weight 20x2
single leg hip lift 20x2
15 push ups
13 bench dips
20 dumbbell floor press
20 dumbbell side press
I also go running on Sundays and often go to the gym or do an insanity workout but as long as I go running once and stick to my toning I feel pretty good. I go to the gym with my friends which makes it so much more fun and we end up motivating each other!
These things are pretty small changes that combined have a much larger affect, it's also far better than doing nothing. At the moment I'm fairly fit which I think is mainly down to dieteray choices, but I want to build muscle and become stronger and cut down on sugar without it having a massive impact on my life!
