Making My Base Routine Cruelty Free FACE 4

Image
For the last post in our FACE series, I wanted to go through my base routine in general. To me, the base is the part that empowers me the most, to be able to concentrate on less vain things than my facial insecurities is a blessing that we should all harness. Unfortunately, since embarking on my journey to a cruelty free makeup bag (let's be real, it's more like a drawer or two!), I have discovered that most of my precious base isn't cruelty free. My general routine consists of an ultra thin layer of foundation blended out with a damp beauty blender to even out my skin tone while still letting freckles. Next I use some of the miss sporty liquid concealer, at roughly £3 this is great all though a little greasy. It's not super full coverage so often you can still see a bad blemish coming through but I'm perfectly okay with that; I don't feel the need to cover up my skin completely as long as I'm feeling confident then I don't really care. Then, I would...

Barry M Flawless Matte Finish Review FACE 3

Image
We've already had a foundation show down, but you know what has to happen before you can compare foundations? You have to try them! Ladies and gentlemen I bring you the Barry M flawless matte finish first impressions. Hold on a moment, this post should have come before the showdown...oops! One of the first things that I noticed, and actually mentioned was strange, was the consistency of the foundation. It is has a thick mousy texture but then is light coverage. I know, I was confused too. I used a wet beauty blender, and to my surprises, it sunk in and sat on the skin gloriously. It definitely didn't cover all of my redness and pigmentation but I kind of like that because it was subtle. In the showdown, I mentioned that the shade range was a disappointment. However, wrongly or rightly, it doesn't actually make a difference to me. I was still able to match by shade pretty well, normally I can just reach for the palest shade but with this foundation I really had to test l...

Should We Be Shamed For Wearing Makeup? FACE 2

Image
Last week we had a casual chat about two staple foundations. This week, I wanted to chat about something a bit more serious. Essentially, should women be shamed for wearing makeup? It links in with feminism as I feel that we get abused for calling ourselves feminists and still doing feminine things, ie wearing makeup. Firstly, I'd like to address the fact that I don't believe that makeup should be a feminine thing. In order to truly move on we need to knock down the stereotypes and create new pathways. Makeup is literally a beauty enhancer, we have one life and if something can improve it why the hell would we not use and take advantage of it. It sounds blunt but peoples logic confuses me, makeup is basically different colour creams and powders that we put on our faces. Since when is face paint for girls? Partly, I blame the media. Historically, men in tribes and even western actors have used the equivalent of makeup to enhance something, to empower something. I believe that ...

Rimmel Lasting Finish VS Barry M Flawless Matte Showdown FACE 1

Image
I know that it's been a while since I've posted; I'm sorry for that. But to make up for it (ahahaha get it? make up makeup ahhh lol) the next 4 posts are going to be part of a series that we are calling FACE. This my friends is FACE  #1! So in this series we are going to discuss all things makeup, and more specifically all things base makeup. I'm talking foundation, concealer, powder, you know all things that generally make us feel good. Talking of feeling good, for part of this series we are going to discuss whether foundation is masking things and is it a nescity to feel fab! For this video however we are going to discuss the differences between a Rimmel favourite and  a Barry M newbie! On the off I would generally say that of course Rimmel will be the better choice, especially since I've been using it for about 6 months now and it is bloody fantastic! However, some of you may remember that I'm trying to make my makeup bag cruelty free. (You can find th...

Problems With Feminism

Image
Before I did my research and actually classed myself as a feminist I had a very narrow minded view on what feminism was. In my mind, I thought that it was a group (mostly lesbians with short blue hair -more on that later) that claimed that women are better than men. In some ways I still don't think that it was unjustified because I still see quotes like "I'm a feminist, I've been a female for a long time now   It would be stupid not to be on my own side". I just don't think that feminism is about that, surely it shouldn't be just about females then we're just as bad as men have historically been. Isn't it about men and women being equal, being valued and respected the same. But if feminism is just for females, am I actually I feminist or do I just believe in equality? I mentioned something along the lines of a lesbian with blue hair earlier and I realise that of course that is a false representation of the feminism group. But unfortunately I ...

Little Ways To Be A Little Healthier + Fitness Routine

Image
Hello everyone! Wow that's a bit loud for 11 pm at night! Today I wanted to have a little chat about having a generally healthier lifestyle. I think that being physically able is so so important, firstly it's a natural boost for body confidence but it's also so good for your overall energy levels and general brightness. Sadly, few of us have the motivation to do hours and hours in the gym or the energy for proper cooking, so I thought I would share some easy ways that I try and add some healthy habits into my lifestyle. To start with lets talk about food, I'm a gal who loves her food and luckily the way I control my diet is not limiting how much I eat but rather what I eat. A change I've been implementing in the last few weeks is my breakfasts. It used to consist of cereal day in day out, which we all know is generally packed full of sugar and carbs. So instead I bought a jar from dun elm and I've been eating overnight oats every morning for a while now. To s...

Packing Essentials

Image
As I write this I'm actually on a plane to the UAE to see my mum and my friends. I actually grew up there and moved back just last summer to live with my dad, as someone who spent a lot of her child hood shuttling between not just parents but also from the UAE to the UK I am pretty efficient at packing. So it seemed very fitting to write a little post about packing. Also, because of where we lived we spent most of our holidays either somewhere tropical or in the UK and from the age of about 8 I was flying UM and then from 12 I've been flying on my own or with my sister so as you can imagine I'm also pretty accustomed to airports so I though another time I could an airport tips post too! In this post I'm going to be writing a detailed list for  a 'generic' holiday, what I mean by this is not a holiday where you have a specific focus like sight seeing, surfing, hiking, skiing etc. Actually where I'm going is a very good example I'll be doing things like sw...
